Name: Rosa Monica Munda
Name of Learning Partner: Jean

1. How many times have you met your exchange partner in the past month?

Just once, we went shopping at feng qia.

2. Do you think your learning partner is helpful in exchange experiences?

Yes! We rode a scooter all the way to feng chia. She treated me to dinner and afterwards we went shopping. She was very helpful and kind in every way. We talked about all the places I should visit here, etc. We made plans to go out again soon, maybe after midterms.

3. Please give a comment about this program?

It’s a great idea although I believe there should be more activities hosted by the OIA for the interaction between learning partners because some of the partners are shy and don’t talk to their partners at all due to trouble with communicating in English.

Name of Learning Partner: Grace

1. How many times have you met your exchange partner in the past month?

We met just once for lunch. I invited my friends – Rosa, Ellery, Shanghao, his learning partner and roommate Kunjia, and his other roommate Justin Chapman went with us as well. Grace had with her 6-8 of her friends, and later, Aziel, Vanina, and Jerica joined us for lunch as well. It was really a big group and I was seated far away from Grace so there weren't much exchange of words between us. There were introductions from both sides but I guess it was really hard to communicate in such a situation, so discussions were limited to those people that are closely seated to you. The language barrier is also prominent and therefore expressing ourselves in a way that the other side will understand was a major difficulty.

2. Do you think your learning partner is helpful in exchange experiences?
I can't say yet. It still is early to say, since we just met once. Also, I find Grace to be extremely shy, and I think she is not comfortable speaking in english, and I have very limited Chinese vocabulary too. But I think learning partners may really be helpful in exchange experiences. Kia's learning partner, Patty,  for example is always ready to assist us, and is always visiting us.. telling us stories, and sharing food with us, or just playing and chatting with us. Marko's learning partner, Tina, even bought me a face mask.. and we watched a movie together in the library too. I had dinner with Jerica's, Ellery's, and Aziel's learning partners at the Eating House. :D

Twice for dinner: One at the Eating House near Providence University and the other one at Mr. 38 Curry House around Tong Pie where we went to the Night view afterwards.

2. Do you think your learning partner is helpful in exchange experiences?

Yes, because my learning partner seems to be well-versed about the various interesting things about Taiwan such as the night markets and great dining places.  Furthermore, she makes an effort in having conversations everytime we are together thus making it easier for me and my friends to be comfortable around her.

Kara and Ceil

Name: Kara
Name of Learning Partner: Fantasy/Ciel

1. How many times have you met your exchange partner in the past month?

Twice. We haven’t gone out so there’s no photo of us.

2. Do you think your learning partner is helpful in exchange experiences?

I think Ciel is very enthusiastic and would like to share the culture of Taiwan.  Unfortunately, there is a language barrier between us and we both couldn’t communicate effectively with each other.  I don’t know if it’s also because of the timing (midterms) that there are a lot of other activities prioritized before the learning partner program.

3. Please give a comment about this program?

The concept of the program is brilliant.  However, there are a lot of things to be improved.  First, in assigning partners, there could be a questionnaire designed to determine who would potentially go well with whom.  Second, there must be activities or tasks that will encourage interaction.  Third, interval of activities or follow-up must be shorter.

Dear all,

Below is the announcement mailed to our learning partners this morning informing them of the changing schedule. Please note.

I will work on other details(including Chinese and English version of announcements to international and exchange students and etc.) by Thursday. Thank you.
